Turkmenistan’s GDP growth rate remains at 6.2% for four months

In January-April 2023, the GDP growth rate of Turkmenistan remained at the level of 6.2%. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said this at a government meeting last Thursday, at which the results of the country's socio-economic development for four months of this year were discussed.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the results of the four months of this year indicate that our country continues to develop in accordance with the adopted programs. During the period under review, the GDP growth rate remained at the level of 6.2%. Numerous industrial and social facilities have been built and are being built in all corners of the country.
“As part of the diversification of the economy, we strive to produce import-substituting goods. State programs are being successfully implemented to increase the output of export-oriented products. The process of digitalization and industrialization of the country is underway,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued.
In this regard, the head of Turkmenistan focused on the need to make every effort to solve the tasks envisaged in the state programs.
During a government meeting, Vice-Chairman Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, reporting on macroeconomic indicators for January-April 2023, said that over the indicated period, the volume of retail trade increased by 9.4% compared to the same period last year, and foreign trade turnover – by 13.2%.
The Vice-Chairman also noted that the execution of the revenue side of the State Budget for January-April 2023 amounted to 115.4%, the expenditure side – 97.5%.
Compared to the same period last year, the average monthly salary for large and medium-sized enterprises increased by 9.9%. Wages, pensions, state allowances and student scholarships have been financed in a timely manner, H. Geldimyradov said.
He also noted that the volume of assimilated investments from all sources of financing is 13.1% more compared to the same period in 2022.
