Serdar Berdimuhamedov: For Turkmenistan, the Republic of Tajikistan is a significant and promising partner

On Wednesday, May 10, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks in Dushanbe in a narrow format and in an expanded format with the participation of government delegations of the two countries, TDH reports.
During the talks, a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation was discussed, its key areas were specified in the context of modern realities. At the same time, the desire of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to further deepen and diversify the partnership was confirmed, taking into account the existing solid potential and prospects, the priorities of the socio-economic development of the two countries.
Particular attention during the talks was paid to the possibilities of further development of trade and economic relations. As the President of Turkmenistan emphasized, our country attaches great importance to the expansion of cooperation in this direction, considering Tajikistan as a significant and promising partner.
A big role here is given to the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Tajik Commission, designed to promote the intensification of trade and economic ties between our countries. At the same time, there is a need to significantly increase the level of partnership between business communities. In this regard, it is proposed to provide state assistance in attracting Turkmen and Tajik companies to participate in joint investment projects in the territories of the two countries.
Our country, the President noted, is ready for a significant expansion of cooperation with Tajikistan in the supply of products from the fuel and energy complex, the construction and chemical industries, the food industry and agriculture, the pharmaceutical industry and other goods.
Another priority of the Turkmen-Tajik cooperation today is the transport sector. Here, mutual efforts should be directed to the creation of a powerful and modern infrastructure that ensures the unification of the transport systems of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In the context of developing cooperation in this direction, Turkmenistan is ready to work together on a transport corridor that would connect our states with access to the Caspian Sea.
The head of Turkmenistan also suggested considering the possibility of resuming direct and transit air traffic between our states.
Following the talks, Presidents of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan Emomali Rahmon and Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed an agreement on strategic partnership between the two states. A solid package of more than twenty documents aimed at developing cooperation in a wide range of areas of interaction was also signed.
Speaking to media representatives following the results of the Turkmen-Tajik talks in Dushanbe, the President of Turkmenistan noted the constructiveness and substantiveness of the talks, which were held in the spirit of trust and openness and confirmed the commitment of the two countries to close cooperation and its intensification, the areas of joint work were specified.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Emomali Rahmon to visit Turkmenistan at a convenient time for him. This invitation was gratefully accepted. The dates of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
