In May this year, Turkmenistan exported 2.73 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China, which is 5% more compared to the same period in 2022.  This is reported by Interfax with reference to the customs of China.

In total, China imported 13.51 billion cubic meters of “blue” fuel in May, which is a historical maximum for this month.  Experts call the growth of the Chinese economy after the removal of COVID-19 restrictions a key factor in the high growth dynamics of the global energy market.

In May this year, at the Central Asia-China Summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued on the implementation of new projects to increase the supply of Turkmen blue fuel to China.

In turn, Chinese President Xi Jinping supported the acceleration of the construction of the 4th line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, which will increase the total capacity of this pipeline to 65 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
