The Supreme Committee of the Special Investment Promotion Council (SIFC) of Pakistan has instructed the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Petroleum Department to expedite the resolution of issues on the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline, Business Recorder reports, citing informed sources.
The SIFC, which includes senior civilian and military leaders of Pakistan, has, inter alia, given instructions to achieve concrete results within a specified time frame for the TAPI project and other priority projects.
The committee also sought a report from the Minister of Petroleum, Industry and Production and the Minister of Finance of Pakistan on the progress made in ensuring stable supply of gas for industrial, power generation, commercial and domestic needs.
It is also reported that discussions will be held at the ministerial level to study the possibility and mechanism for purchasing electricity from Turkmenistan.
