The President of Turkmenistan and the new EU Ambassador discuss cooperation in the energy sector and other spheres

On September 9, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the new European Union Ambassador to Turkmenistan Luc Pierre Devigne, and promising areas of cooperation were discussed at the meeting, TDH reports.

As noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to its engagement with the European Union, a key international partner.

The trade and economic sphere was identified as a primary area of ​​cooperation. The Head of State highlighted significant opportunities for increasing trade turnover, expanding business contacts with European companies and implementing new investment projects.

The meeting emphasized Turkmenistan’s strong focus on cooperation in sectors such as energy, transport and logistics, industry, agriculture, digital technologies and environment protection.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening the partnership with the European Union in the transport and communications sector. In this regard, it was noted that realizing the potential of routes, crossing the Caspian Sea, to European markets and of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor serves mutual interests.

Additionally, the parties acknowledged significant opportunities for deepening cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of renewable energy sources and the transition to a green economy.

During the meeting, the EU Ambassador presented his credentials to the Head of Turkmenistan.
