On November 4, a ground-breaking ceremony for a major chemical complex, designed to produce nitrogen fertilizers, took place in the Garashsyzlyk etrap of the Dashoguz velayat, with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The facility is projected to have an annual output capacity of 350,000 tons of urea and 350,000 tons of ammonium nitrate, TDH reports.
The enterprise is being constructed for the Türkmenhimiýa State Concern by the Turkish company Gap İnşaat, with the involvement of the German concern Thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbH. The latter’s resource-efficient, licensed technologies for the integrated production of ammonia and urea will ensure that the facility’s operations meet high environmental standards.
Natural gas will serve as the primary feedstock for the plant, with an estimated annual consumption of 630 million cubic meters. Electricity will be supplied by on-site turbogenerators.
During the ground-breaking ceremony, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that “the chemical industry is a vital sector of the national economy, to modernize which significant measures are being taken – substantial capital investments are being channeled into the sector, large-scale projects are underway, and modern technologies are being widely integrated into production processes.”
“Today, several high-capacity enterprises operate effectively within our domestic chemical industry, with a primary focus on utilizing local raw materials,” the President of Turkmenistan added.
“The new chemical facility, for which we are laying the foundation today in the Dashoguz velayat, represents another major investment project. This complex will incorporate advanced technological solutions from leading European and Asian companies, ensuring that its production processes comply with environmental standards,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
“The facility is designed to produce 350,000 tons of urea and 350,000 tons of ammonium nitrate annually. Thus, the complex’s capacity will make it possible to fully meet the needs of our agricultural sector and to supply fertilizers for export. Furthermore, more than a thousand new jobs will be created here. Many of the future specialists have received training at universities abroad, and the necessary conditions have been established for their work,” the Head of State noted.
“Overall, the construction of this modern nitrogen fertilizer production complex will represent a significant contribution to the long-term development of the domestic chemical industry," the President of Turkmenistan emphasized.
The Head of State placed a capsule, containing a commemorative message, into the foundation of the future chemical complex.
