On Friday, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of the construction of the city of Arkadag, TDH reports today.
During the celebrations, modern, environmentally friendly vehicles were donated to the institutions of the city of state importance – electric buses, electric cars, municipal equipment and specialized service vehicles.
Before the start of the ceremony, an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was held, at which the President signed a number of documents related to the socio-economic development of the city of Arkadag.
About 70,000 people will live in the new administrative center of Akhal velayat, named Arkadag. It is being built on an area of 950 hectares, 30 kilometers southwest of the Turkmen capital.
The implementation of this mega-project started in 2019. As part of the 1st stage, “smart” residential buildings, buildings of the regional mayor’s office, medical, educational and cultural institutions, a drama theater, libraries, a museum, the Higher International School of Horse Breeding, the Horse Breeding Research and Production Center and other facilities were built here.
The city of Arkadag will become the first city in our country where public environmentally friendly electric transport will operate.
According to the previously signed resolution of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, it is planned to complete the second phase of the construction of the city of Arkadag by 2026.
