In the first six months of 2023, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China increased by 12.3% compared to the same period last year, amounting to about $5.55 billion, according to the General Administration of Customs of China.
A significant advantage in the overall trade balance fell on the export of Turkmenistan, which for the reporting period amounted to $5.07 billion. At the same time, natural gas became the main product exported to the Celestial Empire, the cost of which is estimated at $5.05 billion.
In turn, Turkmenistan purchased Chinese goods worth $476 million. According to macroeconomic indicators, Beijing is one of Ashgabat’s key trading partners.
Turkmenistan supplies natural gas to China through the international gas pipeline “Turkmenistan – China”, which passes through the territory of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
