The President of Turkmenistan spoke at the plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly

 President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to New York, spoke on Tuesday at the plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

 The head of state in his speech voiced Turkmenistan’s position on pressing issues of our time related to issues of strengthening peace, security and development, as well as solving environmental issues.

 In particular, Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to begin discussing the possibilities of developing a Global Security Strategy based on the principles of the UN Charter and generally accepted norms of international law, taking into account current realities and trends in world development.

 In particular, the President of Turkmenistan noted that our country is taking the initiative to create, under the auspices of the UN, the format of the Security Conference in Central Asia and adjacent zones.  At the same time, readiness was expressed to hold the first Meeting in Ashgabat in 2024.

 Other initiatives of the head of Turkmenistan concerned proposals to establish a Regional Center for Technologies related to Climate Change in Central Asia, the creation of the Caspian Environmental Initiative, and the holding of a UN forum on food security in Turkmenistan.
