The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov will be an honorary guest of the International Conference and Exhibition «Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2024» (OGT-2024), which will be held in Ashgabat from October 23 to 25. The distinguished guest will be one of the speakers at the session «New trends in the global energy market and prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation», the press service of the forum organizers reported.

It is expected that the session will review trends in the global energy market, as well as determine the strategic role of Turkmenistan in it. Issues of international cooperation in this area will also be discussed.

Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan are long-standing trade and economic partners who successfully cooperate in the energy and oil and gas industries. Thus, the Turkmenistan-China international gas pipeline runs through the territory of Uzbekistan.  The neighboring republic is also a stable and reliable buyer of Turkmen electricity.

During the session, its participants will also get acquainted with the capabilities of the energy infrastructure of Turkmenistan, the fuel and energy segment of which is directly linked to a similar system in Uzbekistan.

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have bilateral agreements that define key vectors of energy partnership. These include stable supplies of natural gas and its expansion based on the growing needs of the neighboring republic, increasing the potential for Turkmen electricity supplies, and implementing various infrastructure projects.

The visit of the Uzbek Minister of Energy to Turkmenistan and his participation in the OGT-2024 International Conference and Exhibition will contribute to the implementation of the plans that fit into the strategy for the overall development of bilateral partnership.

In total, more than 700 delegates from 40 countries have already registered to participate in OGT. Registration for in-person participation is already closed. Registration for online participation will be open until October 20.
