Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Georgia on July 16 for a state visit, TDH reports.
Negotiations between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili took place at the Orbeliani Palace in Tbilisi. One of the key aspects of the meeting's agenda was the development of trade and economic cooperation.
Noting transport, logistics, communications, and port infrastructure as key areas of cooperation, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that our countries support the initiative to create the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor along the Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Romania route. Connecting the Caspian and Black Sea regions opens up enormous opportunities for developing trade, economic, and investment partnerships.
Expressing confidence that the current visit would be an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Mikheil Kavelashvili to visit Turkmenistan at his convenience.
Gratefully accepting the invitation, the President of Georgia expressed confidence that the fruitful interstate dialogue would continue to develop across a wide range of areas.
During his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the Expo Georgia Exhibition Center, where the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum was held.
Speaking at the business forum, President Berdimuhamedov noted that in early 2026, our country approved an Investment Program, the main goal of which is to maintain GDP growth at 6.3 percent.
The President emphasized that one of the key areas is the further development of the fuel and energy sector. In this context, the head of state noted that Turkmenistan has begun the fourth stage of industrial development of the Galkynysh gas field, one of the largest in the world.
Development of the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea also remains a key priority, the head of Turkmenistan said, emphasizing that in this regard, our country is developing strategic partnerships with foreign oil and gas companies.
As noted, new hydrocarbon processing capacities have been commissioned, enabling the stable export of finished petroleum products to countries in Asia and Europe.
Having built plants for the production of mineral fertilizers, polymers, and other chemical products in demand on global markets, Turkmenistan has achieved intensive industrial growth in the gas chemical industry, the head of state said.
Then, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze toured the exhibition pavilions, which provide a clear overview of the vast potential of the Turkmen economy. The high interest shown in this exhibition confirms the mutual commitment of both parties to deepening productive cooperation and the practical realization of existing potential.
