Turkmenistan and France strengthen trade and economic partnership

Opportunities for the development and expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and France were discussed on Tuesday during a video conference of representatives of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan and the France-Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce, the website of Turkmenistan Foreign ministry reports.

 The meeting participants discussed in detail the level of trade and economic relations between the two countries.  At the same time, the possibilities of developing partnerships in priority areas, including trade, investment and the oil and gas sector, were emphasized.

 The ways of expanding cooperation between the business circles of Turkmenistan and France were also considered.

 In addition, the impact of the pandemic situation on trade and economic ties between countries of the world and the region was discussed.  In this regard, the parties noted a number of measures taken by the Government of Turkmenistan and the possibility of taking new measures to mitigate the impact of the global pandemic on national productive sectors of the economy, preserving jobs and protecting vulnerable populations.

 At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to consider various forms of cooperation, such as direct investment, joint ventures, project and structural financing and others.

At the summit of the presidents of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, the Turkmen side proposed to consider the prospects for strategic partnership in the gas industry.
