Representatives of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan discussed the prospects for joint development of the Dostluk field in the Caspian sea

Ashgabat hosted a two-day meeting of the joint Turkmen-Azerbaijani working group on the implementation of the intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources at the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
The Turkmen side at the meeting is headed by the head of the working group from the Turkmen side, State Minister – Chairman of the State Concern «Turkmengas» Batyr Amanov, the Azeri – Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Parviz Shakhbazov.
The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the State Concern «Turkmennebit», director of the Caspian Sea Institute, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Adalat, finance and economics, agriculture and environmental protection of Turkmenistan and the State Concern «Turkmengeology».
The parties considered the implementation of the agreements reached during the previous meetings held in March and May of this year.
Particular emphasis is placed on stepping up joint work to attract partners and investors for the successful implementation of a promising intergovernmental document.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the government of Turkmenistan and the government of Azerbaijan on joint exploration, development and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea was signed on January 21, 2021 in order to strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding of the two countries in the energy sector, as well as to disclose mutual potential in this direction.
The Azerbaijani parliament approved the Memorandum in February 2021. The Mejlis of Turkmenistan ratified the Memorandum in March this year.
At the meeting with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in February 2021, the head of the Russian company Lukoil, Vagit Alekperov, announced his intention to participate in this promising project.
