The participants in the international meeting on Afghanistan spoke in favor of the need to build practical cooperation with this country, regardless of the official recognition of the Taliban, according to a joint statement by the Moscow format, circulated following the consultations held on Wednesday in the Russian capital, Interfax reports.
The countries participating in the Moscow format called on «the current leadership of Afghanistan to take additional measures to improve the system of public administration and to form a truly inclusive government that adequately reflects the interests of all the main ethnopolitical forces of the country, which will become a fundamental condition for completing the process of national reconciliation in Afghanistan», the document says.
They also expressed «concern about the manifestation of the activity of banned terrorist organizations in Afghanistan and reaffirmed their readiness to continue to provide security assistance in Afghanistan in order to promote regional stability».
In addition, the participants in the Moscow meeting expressed «deep concern over the deteriorating socio-economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan» and stated «the need to mobilize the consolidated efforts of the international community aimed at providing the Afghan people with urgent humanitarian and economic assistance in the post-conflict reconstruction of the country».
«In this regard, the parties proposed to launch a collective initiative for the early convocation of a representative international donor conference under the auspices of the United Nations, with the understanding, of course, that the main burden of post-conflict economic and financial reconstruction and development of Afghanistan should be borne by the forces whose military contingents were present in this country during the last 20 years», the statement says.
At the same time, the document calls on the current Afghan leadership to «pursue a moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policy, pursue friendly policies towards Afghanistan's neighbors, achieve common goals such as lasting peace, security, reliability, long-term prosperity, and respect the rights ethnic groups, women and children».
