Turkmenistan and the EU intensify cooperation in energy, trade, transport and other areas

Wide range of issues related to the development and strengthening of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union was discussed on Thursday by the participants of the 20th meeting of the Joint Committee «Turkmenistan – European Union» via videoconference, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
Noting the high level of interaction, the parties stressed the need to further intensify the political and diplomatic dialogue and inter-parliamentary ties, as well as trade and economic interaction. The parties also noted the importance of intensifying contacts at the highest level.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of enhancing cooperation in the field of trade, energy, transport, communications and high technologies. In this regard, the need to increase trade, as well as the development of partnerships between the business structures of Turkmenistan and the EU countries was emphasized.
They also considered joint programs and projects in the field of ecology, agriculture, education and healthcare.
From the Turkmen side, the meeting was attended by heads and representatives of a number of ministries, the State Concerns «Turkmengas» and «Turkmennebit», as well as other departments.
On behalf of the EU, representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS), headed by the head of the EEAS department for Russia, the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and the OSCE, Luc Devin, took part in the meeting.
