Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan, India and Pakistan discussed cooperation in the energy sector

The issues of enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, and in particular, in the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline were the focus of attention at the meetings of the Turkmen delegation during a working visit to Pakistan and India on December 18-20.
Last Saturday, December 18, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Kureishi, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the strategic basis of trade and economic cooperation is partnership in the energy sector. In this regard, it was noted about joint actions to intensify interactions on the implementation of the TAPI transnational gas pipeline project, power lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.
On Sunday, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmaniyam Jaishankar. During the talks, it was noted that the energy sector is an important component of cooperation between Turkmenistan and India.
In this context, the parties exchanged views on joint actions to implement the TAPI project.
The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Turkmenistan and India also discussed topical issues of interstate interaction and regional cooperation. The progressive dynamics of the development of interstate relations in all spheres was emphasized.
