On Wednesday, September 2, a videoconference was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Acting Chairman of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, Ajmal Ahmadi, the website of the Foreign Ministry of our country reports.

During the constructive meeting, the parties focused on the need to further strengthen and develop ties across all ranges of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Afghan cooperation.

Turkmenistan invariably advocates the creation of the necessary socio-economic, infrastructural and other vital conditions for the Afghan people. Along with international initiatives aimed at general stability and solidarity, the Turkmen state systematically implements large-scale promising projects with the participation of Afghanistan for the full integration of the neighboring state into the channel of stable development.

In this context, the importance of the projects of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the TAP power transmission line, as well as the Lazurite Corridor, where the parties have huge potential for successful implementation and reaching a qualitatively new level of socio-economic development, was especially noted.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on accelerating the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline. In this regard, it was noted that the parties have recently achieved significant progress in this direction, which is aimed at signing a Memorandum of Understanding on the selection of land plots on the Afghan part of the TAPI highway, which will give a significant impetus to the intensification of work in Afghanistan.
