This morning, a “Malaysian Airlines” plane landed at the international airport of Turkmenabat, delivering PETRONAS specialists who are citizens of Malaysia to Turkmenistan from Malaysia, as well as Turkmen citizens "stuck" in this country due to the cancellation of regular flights due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The special flight was organized by PETRONAS with the assistance of the State Concern “Turkmengas” and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Malaysia, as well as the Embassy of Malaysia in Turkmenistan for the planned rotation of PETRONAS specialists who carry out oil work in accordance with the Production Sharing Agreement on the territory of Turkmenistan, as well as the export of citizens of Turkmenistan , "Stuck" in this country due to the closed borders on the occasion of the pandemic, "the Malaysian company said in a statement.
When boarding the Kuala Lumpur-Turkmenabat evacuation flight, all the requirements of the sanitary and epidemiological protocol were observed, including thermometry, the presence of a PCR test and the observance of physical distance between passengers.
In accordance with the recommendations of the WHO and the Commission on Preventing the Spread of the Pandemic in Turkmenistan, all citizens arriving on a charter flight from Malaysia will undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine.
It should be noted that PETRONAS has established itself in Turkmenistan as the largest oil and gas producing company and supplier of natural gas through its subsidiary PETRONAS Charigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bkhd (PCh (T) SB).
The company is engaged in the development of oil fields in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. PETRONAS began operations in Turkmenistan more than twenty years ago by signing a Production Sharing Agreement for the Block-1 contract area.
Other areas of cooperation include the partnership in the field of professional development and the Program of Training Students from Turkmenistan at the Technological University "PETRONAS".
Within the framework of this program, which has been operating since 1998, 152 Turkmen students got the opportunity to study at the PETRONAS University of Technology in Malaysia. Currently, 36 students from Turkmenistan are studying at this prestigious educational institution in Malaysia.
