The implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project became one of the important topics of the telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his Pakistani counterpart Arif Alvi last Friday.
During the conversation, the parties noted that the implementation of the TAPI project constitutes the strategic basis of interstate partnership in the energy sector.
As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, today the construction and installation work on the Turkmen section of the TAPI gas pipeline is in the final stage. At the end of August this year, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan on the selection of land plots on the Afghan part of the TAPI highway, which will contribute to the intensification of work on Afghan territory.
