President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid special attention to the development of the national energy and transport sector during his speech at a meeting of the People's Council, which is taking place today in Ashgabat.
The meeting participants heard a number of important comments from the head of state in the field of development of the country's transport and energy sector, taking into account the importance of strengthening international cooperation in these areas.
The President noted the creation of a transport infrastructure in the country as an important factor in economic and social development. Convenient and safe international corridors with the use of rail, road, air and water transport will ensure sustainable development in the region, contribute to building up good-neighborly relations, strengthening cooperation and increasing the volume of trade between countries.
Among large-scale projects, the President noted the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the creation of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman corridor and the Lapis-Lazuli transit corridor.
