President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the celebrations held in Moscow on May 9 on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The invitation to take part in the planned celebrations dedicated to the Great Victory over fascism was announced during a telephone conversation on May 7 this year between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia also flew to Moscow to participate in the celebrations dedicated to the Victory Day.

In honor of the significant date, a military parade was held on Red Square with the participation of servicemen and military equipment.  After the end of the military parade, the CIS heads of state went together to the Alexander Garden near the Kremlin wall, where a flower-laying ceremony was held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Paying tribute to the memory and respect to the heroes who stood up to protect the peaceful life and freedom of all mankind and who fell in the battle against fascism on the fields of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the head of Turkmenistan laid red carnations at the Eternal Flame.

The participation of the President of Turkmenistan in the celebrations in honor of the Victory Day has a deeply symbolic meaning, becoming a reflection of respect for the common feat of the heroes-liberators, whose memory will live forever.

At the end of the celebrations, Serdar Berdimuhamedov proceeded to the Vnukovo-2 airport, from where he flew to Ashgabat.

In Turkmenistan, as in Russia, the memory of those who in those harsh years, not sparing their lives, bravely fought on the battlefields, is also sacredly honored.  Today we honor the veterans who forged the great Victory in that terrible war, we bow our heads before the unfading feat of the front-line soldiers, who at the cost of their lives defended our land from fascism.
