The President of Turkmenistan discussed topical areas of cooperation with the OSCE Secretary General

 On Thursday, June 1, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov histed Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Helga Schmid.

 The guest presented the head of Turkmenistan with a certificate on the accession of the city of Arkadag to the project “Development of sustainable, green, climate-friendly cities with innovative solutions in the OSCE region” and the EcoPorts certificate awarded to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

 Helga Schmid noted the high interest of the OSCE in the further development of relations with Turkmenistan.

 President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current visit would provide an opportunity to exchange views on the state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations.

 The head of Turkmenistan congratulated Helga Schmid on the opening of the new building of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, expressing gratitude for the presentation of certificates, which is a confirmation of the successful summing up of efforts in the field of ecology, focused on concrete results.

 The subject of special attention was the theme of international politics and security, which occupies an important place on the agenda of bilateral partnership.  As Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, ensuring efficient and sustainable transit of international energy resources directly affects the well-being and prosperity of the entire region.

 As a country rich in energy resources, Turkmenistan is taking steps to ensure international energy security.  In this context, the head of state emphasized the expediency of carrying out concrete work within the framework of the OSCE to bring energy resources to the world market and transit, including political, financial, technological and environmental aspects.

 During the meeting, the possibilities of developing cooperation in other priority areas, including in the transport and transit sector and other areas, were also discussed.

Preparations for the implementation of energy projects discussed at talks in Islamabad

Tajikistan intends to increase imports of liquefied natural gas from Turkmenistan

Tajikistan, which has so far imported liquefied natural gas mainly from Kazakhstan and Russia, will now expand the geography of supplies, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic Juma Daler said at a press conference, Interfax reports.
