Turkmenistan and Georgia intend to deepen cooperation in the field of energy and transport

 At the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation, held on June 5-6 in Tbilisi, energy and transport sectors were identified among the key segments of bilateral cooperation.  This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

 The Turkmen side was headed by the Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan Begench Gochmollaev, the Georgian side was headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili.  The meeting was attended by heads and leading specialists of sectoral ministries and departments of the two countries.

 Energy and transport sectors were identified among the key segments.  The members of the commission stressed the importance of further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia in the field of transport and energy and expressed their intention to continue work on further deepening bilateral cooperation in these sectors, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan notes.

 The co-chairs of the commission stated the high level of interstate dialogue and confirmed the readiness of Turkmenistan and Georgia to actively expand the productive partnership.

 The parties stressed that an important factor in building up bilateral trade and economic ties is the expansion and strengthening of contacts between the business circles of Turkmenistan and Georgia, including through the creation of joint ventures.

 The areas of sports and tourism were also named among the promising areas of cooperation.  The commission also noted the importance of cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational fields.

 Following the meeting, the corresponding protocol was signed.

 On June 6, within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission, bilateral meetings were held in Tbilisi between entrepreneurs and representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Georgia.  The meetings discussed promising areas of cooperation between business circles in the context of a large trade, economic and investment potential, in particular, in the fields of industry, energy, agriculture and transport.
