“LUKOIL” has started the second stage of development drilling at the second stage of the Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea, INTERFAX.RU reports.

The second stage is aimed at maintaining the design level of production of 6 million tons of oil per year. Within the second stage, it is planned to build two wells and one sidetrack on an ice-resistant stationary platform (LSP-2). "This will help maintain the design level of oil production at the field," the press service of “LUKOIL” explains.

The company notes that for the construction of all facilities of the first, second and third stages, Russian contractors were involved - shipyards of the Astrakhan region.

The Filanovsky field is the largest oil field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea with initial recoverable reserves of 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. Commissioned in autumn 2016. Thanks to the launch of the third stage of construction at the Filanovsky field, “LUKOIL”'s oil production in the Caspian in 2019 increased by 5.2% and amounted to 6.4 million tons.

As previously reported, in September 2020, the head of LUKOIL, Vagit Alekperov, at a meeting with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, briefed the head of our state with the development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian and noted the company's interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan both in the mining sector and in the production of finished oil products - and gas chemical industries.
