The XXVIII International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan” (OGT 2023) is being held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat.
The large-scale forum is a topical business platform for exchanging opinions, strengthening partnerships and developing strategies.
OGT 2023 participants focused on discussing issues such as the future of energy, investment opportunities for the Turkmen oil and gas sector, green energy, environmental aspects of hydrocarbon development, technological innovations and the role of human capital in providing affordable energy.
It was these important topics that Eduard Gasanov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PEL Ltd, which acted as a gold partner of OGT 2023, focused on in an interview with our correspondent:
“Eduard Sarifovich, what are the main activities of PEL Ltd?”
“Our Company is engaged in technology and is a technology integrator, combining core competencies: technology, engineering and the comprehensive implementation of turnkey projects.
“PEL offers integrated innovative solutions for the oil and gas processing industry. The most important area of its activities is environmental engineering – the implementation of projects based on the development and integration of a set of solutions to increase the reliability of oil and gas processing, to reduce energy intensity and to minimize the negative impact on the environment, while achieving the best available technologies.
“The Company occupies a leading position in the engineering consulting and investment consulting market.”
“Does PEL have experience in cooperation with Turkmenistan?”
“In the early 2000s, the Company’s specialists participated in the modernization of a number of plants for processing resources of the country’s large gas fields. We were engaged in gas purification and the reduction of energy costs. We successfully completed these tasks and received good reviews. And today we are interested in continuing cooperation, especially since over the past decades the company has accumulated extensive experience and knowledge in technology and the environmental agenda.”
“Tell us about your plans for cooperation with the Türkmengaz State Concern.”
“First of all, PEL is interested in taking part in the implementation of the project of the Galkynyş gas field, one of the largest in the world.
“This is one of the significant projects having an enormous potential. Its implementation requires modern technologies. What is needed, first of all, are those technologies that have a high environmental agenda, in order to reduce emissions and to allow minimizing costs when choosing technologies.”
“What exactly can PEL offer to implement the development of the Galkynyş field?”
“PEL’s mission is to expand countries’ hydrocarbon potential and to develop synergistic partnerships with reliable energy companies, while ensuring compliance with best business practices and respect for the environment.
“We offer turnkey technologies. The Company can successfully implement technologically such tasks as gas purification from hydrogen sulfide and CO2 (carbon dioxide). Today we are a company that can, within the framework of a technological solution, provide knowledge and experience in solving a number of current problems in compliance with the principles of the sustainable development conception.
“We could implement a turnkey project related to gas treatment, gas and oil refining and environmental solutions for CO2 absorption, in order to eliminate the risks of its release at the gas preparation stage.”
“What will the implementation of these projects bring to the country?”
“Significant economic effect, additional jobs, social significance and, most importantly, contribution to the energy balance of gas consumption in the export direction.
“Turkmenistan is geographically located in a great place. Asia is on the left, and Europe is on the right. Turkmenistan is also surrounded by partner countries, which is of great importance for the development of international cooperation. Along with this, you have a great gas export potential. Turkmenistan is one of the top five countries in terms of gas potential, and the development of large projects requires modern technologies and advanced experience.
“The experience of our Company, taking into account previously completed projects, including those at the Mubarek and Shurtan gas processing plants in Uzbekistan, allows us to offer the most optimal model for the implementation of large turnkey projects. By this we mean technology, construction, launch of facilities, personnel training and technical support during a certain life cycle of the plant. In this way, we minimize risks and make gas production more stable, which can positively influence the energy balance of the country’s export priority.
“Recognizing the importance of partnerships, PEL Ltd takes an approach that is collaborative, flexible and responsive to partners’ needs.”
“Your Company is a gold sponsor of the current forum, what can you say in this regard?”
“We are grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to contribute to the success of this important international event. For us, this is an important moment, perceived as a credit of trust. The Company is interested in strategic cooperation with Turkmenistan.”
“You participated in the exhibition and conference, what is your opinion about the significance of these events?”
“Noteworthy is the fact that all events of the OGT 2023 forum are held at a high organizational level. They reveal the potential and capabilities of Turkmenistan in the strategic oil and gas industry. In turn, potential partners can evaluate their capabilities. For example, to decide what we can offer for the successful implementation of oil and gas projects in Turkmenistan, where we can offer our knowledge, experience, best practices, and how to plan a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.
“I would like to especially note that the PEL Ltd Company, which unites more than 8 thousand employees and has extensive experience, is interested in making its contribution to the progressive development of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan.
“On behalf of the management of PEL, I would like to express my gratitude to the respected President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity to participate in the international forum OGT 2023, which was a vivid reflection of the multifaceted work being carried out in the country with the support of the head of state on the development of the Turkmen fuel and energy complex.”
