Turkmenistan and SPE expand the horizons of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector

As part of the OGT 2026 International Oil and Gas Conference, to be held in Ashgabat from October 21 to 23, a special roundtable discussion will be hosted by representatives of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the Turkmen Energy Forum reports.

This forthcoming SPE session will provide an opportunity for technical exchange and dialogue between industry representatives and the academic community.

SPE representatives have recently visited Ashgabat to hold discussions with energy organizations, international operators and academic institutions.

A technical roundtable, held on October 9, focused on professional development and knowledge sharing. Key topics included the development of mature fields, horizontal drilling, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) and the responsible application of artificial intelligence.

A proposed roadmap for 2026–2027 includes webinars, seminars and the resumption of activities for students. Ashgabat is also being considered as a potential host city for the annual SPE Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition in 2027.

Establishing strong professional connections will enable operators and researchers to share practical experience and to evaluate technologies based on specific project requirements.
