The head of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan proposed that Tajikistan establish the export of Turkmen electricity and natural gas through Uzbekistan and increase the export of petroleum products, TDH reports.

This was discussed at the meeting of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in an expanded format with the participation of members of the official delegations of the two countries, held on April 4.

“The energy sector is also being considered as one of the possible areas of cooperation,” said Hero-Arkadag, noting that we are talking, in particular, about the export of Turkmen electricity and natural gas to Tajikistan through the territory of Uzbekistan.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that this topic had already been discussed with President Emomali Rahmon during a meeting in Ashgabat in August 2023 as part of the Summit of the Heads of State of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The head of the Halk Maslahaty also stated that Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are interacting in the field of supplies of petroleum products.  In this context, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to increase their volume depending on the needs of the Tajik side.
