The Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan and the CIS Secretary General discuss the agenda of the forthcoming meeting

On May 22, the agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS was discussed by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Sergey Lebedev, who had arrived in Ashgabat to participate in this meeting.

It was noted that the meeting would provide an opportunity to exchange views on such topical issues as economic interaction, energy, infrastructure development and international transport corridors running through the territories of the Commonwealth, TDH reports. 

The interlocutors expressed confidence that the results of the meeting would make a worthy contribution to the implementation of the assigned tasks to expand trade, economic and investment partnerships within the CIS.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan actively participated in summits and other events held within the CIS, interacted widely in the fields of economy, trade, culture and sports and advocated the further coordination of efforts in the field of transport and energy.

The Hero-Arkadag also noted the importance of humanitarian dialogue and the stimulation of ties in the scientific, educational, cultural and sports spheres.

After wishing the forthcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government to be successful, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that it was an important platform for discussing issues of the further development of cooperation within the Commonwealth.
