The ceremonies were attended by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of the Halk Malahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as the Acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan Molla Mohammed Hassan Akhund, TDH reports.

Among today's events is the opening of a 177-meter railway bridge of the Serkhetabat-Turgundi steel highway on the Turkmen-Afghan border, the laying of the foundation of the Shatlyk-1 gas compressor station in the Mary velayat, the start of construction of the Serkhetabat-Herat section, which is an important stage in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, and the Serkhetabat-Herat fiber-optic communication line, the news agency notes.

Also today, the construction of a warehouse complex in the "dry port" of the Turkhetabad railway station and the Turkhetabad-Sanabar section of the first stage of the Turkhetabad-Herat railway was launched, and the Nur-el-Jahad power plant located in the Afghan province of Herat was put into operation as part of the implementation of the first stage of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line project.

Chairman of the Halk Malahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived by helicopter at the Islim-Cheshme border checkpoint in the city of Serhetabat in the Mary province. After some time, the acting Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Afghanistan, Molla Mohammed Hasan Akhund, also arrived here by helicopter.

A meeting between Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the acting head of the Afghan government took place in the conference hall erected at the Islim-Cheshme border checkpoint.

Following the meeting, they took part in ceremonies to mark the opening and start of construction of new infrastructure facilities that have become visible symbols of good-neighborly and fraternal Turkmen-Afghan relations.

Then, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed the participants of the celebrations via a digital system. The speech of the head of state was heard with deep attention and inspiration.

Thus, this day of the year “The Treasury of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi”, full of important events, will enter as another bright page in the glorious history of independent neutral Turkmenistan, marking a new milestone on the path of further development of mutually beneficial interstate cooperation, as well as a generally fruitful regional and international partnership that meets the interests of universal peace, prosperity and progress.
