Turkmenistan is ready to expand supplies of natural gas and electricity to the countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, speaking at the annual meeting of the foreign ministers of the ECO member states, which was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly under the chairmanship of the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the Foreign Ministry of our country reports on its website.
«Another important area is cooperation in the field of energy. In this regard, Turkmenistan is ready to expand supplies of natural gas and electricity to the ECO countries,» said Rashid Meredov, whose speech was published on the website of the Foreign Ministry.
«We also believe that the ECO Secretariat could take a leading role in resolving energy and water issues, and consider the possibility of organizing a high-level meeting dedicated to coordinating the efforts of member states in these areas,» Meredov continued.
Currently, 10 countries are members of the ECO: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
