The importance of intensifying work on projects in the fields of energy and transport was emphasized at a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports on its website.

A wide range of issues of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation in the context of implementing previously reached agreements and promising plans for the future were discussed during the meeting on October 16 in Islamabad.

It was stated that great importance is attached to intensifying partnership in such areas as energy and transport. In this context, the importance of strengthening joint activities in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline projects, and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line were emphasized, the Foreign Ministry notes.

Particular attention was paid to completing the work on preparing bilateral documents aimed at implementing joint projects in the fields of energy and transport.

One of the key vectors of cooperation was the further development of economic partnership, where there is solid potential for increasing trade volumes and diversifying mutually beneficial ties.

During the meeting, Asif Ali Zardari expressed his respect and gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their personal contribution to the development of friendship and fraternal relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan, the MFA notes.

Earlier, on October 15, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif discussed in Islamabad the completion of the preparation of documents for the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline and high-voltage power transmission line along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route.
