CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Co., Ltd., a branch of CNPC, is actively implementing a project to combat wind erosion of soils caused by frequent sandstorms and low vegetation at the Galkynysh gas field in Turkmenistan, according to a press release from CNPC.
By combining traditional ecological rehabilitation methods with modern environmentally friendly technologies, the company has taken measures to fix sand using grass grids around the Galkynysh gas field, gradually creating a green barrier and making efforts to ensure production safety and improve the environmental situation.
The Galkynysh gas field is located in the southern desert zone of Turkmenistan and is exposed to strong winds and dust storms throughout the year. To reduce the impact of wind erosion on production facilities, the company conducted an in-depth study of the climatic, soil and wind conditions of the area and defined a sand stabilization plan using grass grids in the areas most exposed to winds.
During the implementation of the plans, the grid density was adapted to the terrain and wind direction to ensure maximum sand control. After some time, the sand stabilization project using grass grids began to yield its first results.
Soil erosion around the gas field was effectively contained, and the safety of production facilities was ensured.
To consolidate the achieved results and improve efficiency, the company regularly monitors the condition of the soil and vegetation in the areas covered by grass grids and makes further adjustments to the sand stabilization plan.
The company's sand stabilization measures not only greatly improved the ecological environment around the gas field, but also provided valuable experience for combating desertification in Turkmenistan, fully reflecting the commitment of Chuanqing's overseas operations to green development.
