The issues of modernization and increasing the export potential of the electricity industry in Turkmenistan were discussed during a workshop held on Monday by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the participation of Vice Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shamuhammet Durdylyev and Minister of Energy Charymurad Purchekov.Today, the Turkmen energy industry is demonstrating a steadily high pace of development and is able not only to meet the country's domestic needs, but also the growing volumes of electricity exports, the head of state said, giving specific orders to the deputy prime minister.During the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, the infrastructure of the industry has been replenished with new gas turbine power plants built in Ashgabat, Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Dashoguz regions. Today this work is actively ongoing.In this regard, special attention was paid to laying along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline the interstate energy highway - the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) high-voltage power line.Touching upon future electricity supplies to Afghanistan, the head of state emphasized that the TAP project will contribute to the formation of appropriate infrastructure and the creation of new jobs, and most importantly, will make a significant contribution to the sustainable development and stabilization of the situation in a neighboring friendly country.Major projects currently under way, such as the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline and the TAP power transmission line, are of great importance not only for the participating countries, but also for the region as a whole.
