President of Turkmenistan: Our neutrality is a doctrine for the development of peaceful and fraternal relations

On Tuesday, December 12, Turkmen people solemnly celebrated the International Day of Neutrality and the 28th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the Resolution on the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
Early in the morning, the President of Turkmenistan took part in the solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the Neutrality Monument.
The ceremony was also attended by members of the government, leaders and representatives of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, ambassadors of Turkmenistan to foreign countries, heads of accredited diplomatic missions and international structures, elders, foreign delegates of the international conference “Dialogue – a guarantee of peace”, meetings of the high level of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development.
“Our neutrality is a doctrine for the development of peaceful and fraternal relations that unite the peoples of the planet in the name of high goals,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted in his festive address to the people of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality and the 28th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of independent Turkmenistan.
“Located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, in the center of the Great Silk Road, our Motherland has established harmonious cooperation with the states of the world and authoritative international organizations, and has accumulated positive experience in forming the most effective ways of mutually beneficial relations,” the President of Turkmenistan noted in his address.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that “the legal status of Turkmenistan’s neutrality provides for strict adherence to the norms of international law, the use of the geopolitical and geo-economic potential of the country in the name of peaceful life and its creative development”.
“In this context, we attach great importance to strengthening and enriching our cooperation in various fields with the United Nations, the European Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as states of the Asia-Pacific region, the Near and Middle East, Europe and America,” noted the head of Turkmenistan.
“Our proposals in the field of development of trade and economic relations, environmental safety in connection with climate change, environmental protection, energy security, and the creation of international transport corridors are widely supported throughout the world,” the President’s address said.
National celebrations dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality took place on this day in all cities and villages of our country, where vibrant concert programs, cultural and sporting events took place.
