Turkmenistan delegation discussed development of cooperation in fuel and energy complex and other areas in Japan

On January 27, Turkmen-Japanese political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries were held in Tokyo, during which issues of developing cooperation in a number of areas, including in the fuel and energy complex, were discussed. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen side at the meeting was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Japanese side was headed by Masaki Ishikawa, Special Representative of the Japanese Foreign Ministry for Central Asian and Caucasus Affairs.
Having touched upon the topic of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, the parties discussed current projects and issues related to their implementation. In this regard, the positive experience of cooperation in the oil and gas and gas chemical industries, in the electric power industry, transport and others was noted. Here, great importance is attached to the activities of the joint Committee, which contributes to the practical implementation of the solid potential for cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes.
The parties also discussed issues related to the participation of the Turkmen side in the World Expo 2025, which will be held in Osaka, and the holding of the National Day of Turkmenistan on April 14, 2025.
During the meeting, the possibilities for developing cooperation in the field of digital systems and information technology were emphasized.
The parties also considered the issues of holding the first summit of the countries participating in the dialogue "Central Asia + Japan".
Particular emphasis was placed on the Resolution of the UN General Assembly on the proclamation, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust".
In addition, the state and prospects for the development of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in all areas were discussed at a meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Hisayuki Fujii. The parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen partnership in a wide range of areas. The importance of high-level visits in promoting interstate relations was also emphasized. During the visit to Japan, the Turkmen delegation also held a meeting with Hiroyuki Tsubai, Member of the Board of Directors, Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation, President of Machinery and Equipment, and Chairman of the Japan-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation. The parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japan-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation, held on December 16-17, 2024.
