The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Uzbekistan to participate in the first Central Asia-European Union Summit, met with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on April 3.

Expressing confidence that the high-level meeting will analyze the state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as discuss prospects for further development of interaction, the interlocutors emphasized that this will contribute to solving key tasks to intensify relations between Central Asia and the European Union.

The President of the European Commission noted the interest of the European Union in strengthening multilateral partnership with the countries of Central Asia, including Turkmenistan.

As Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to expanding fruitful ties with the European Union. In accordance with the EU-promoted green energy policy, our country pays special attention to the introduction of new technologies and ensuring the stability of energy resources.

Within the framework of cooperation, projects in such areas as lawmaking, science and education, agriculture, environmental protection and the fight against climate change are also successfully implemented in Turkmenistan.

The head of state invited Ursula von der Leyen to attend the representative International Forum of Peace and Trust, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, which will be held in December in Ashgabat in honor of the announcement of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust".
