The International Investment Promotion Forum for Turkmenistan (TEIF 2025) promises to be one of the most significant events of the International Year of Peace and Trust in Energy and Sustainable Development. What really sets the upcoming event apart is its unique line-up of participants, including heads of the world’s largest and most respected energy organizations. Their presence not only highlights Turkmenistan’s growing role in the international arena as an energy power, but also serves as recognition of its efforts to advance a sustainable energy future. Confirmed participants include Haitham Al Gais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), and Atsuko Hirose, Secretary General of the Energy Charter Secretariat.
This high level of participation demonstrates the growing interest in Turkmenistan’s potential as a bridge between Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In the context of rapid global changes, from the race for decarbonization to digitalization and the transformation of the global energy sector, TEIF 2025 provides a unique platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the international community.
Given that Malaysia is chairing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year, the choice of Kuala Lumpur as the host emphasizes the international significance of the forum and strengthens Turkmenistan's image as a reliable partner open to cooperation, investment and innovation.
TEIF 2025 is not just an event, but a turning point in which future energy alliances are formed, the vector of sustainable development is determined and the atmosphere of mutual trust is strengthened in the context of global uncertainty.
In this context, the words of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, spoken on March 19 at the International Conference "International Year of Peace and Trust: the Role of Interregional Cooperation in Ensuring Sustainable Development" sound especially symbolic:
"The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline is one of the significant projects. Its goal is to provide countries with a total population of 1 billion 750 million people with natural gas in the modern era." It was also emphasized that "Turkmenistan's transformation into a transport and energy hub of international importance meets the interests of a wide range of states and peoples and contributes to the solid strengthening of the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding in the region."
These statements reflect the strategic vision of Turkmenistan as a country actively promoting the agenda of energy diplomacy, peace and sustainable development. The TAPI project and Turkmenistan's participation in initiatives such as the Global Methane Emissions Reduction only strengthen its position in the system of international priorities.
Today, all eyes are on TEIF 2025 - a forum where a new energy future is being shaped, and where Turkmenistan is not just a participant, but a catalyst for change.
More than 300 delegates from more than 30 countries have already confirmed their participation, including representatives of financial institutions and leading companies in the field of energy, infrastructure and green technologies. Registration for participation in the TEIF 2025 Forum in person ends on April 15, 2025. (material provided by the organizers of TEIF 2025).
