The first ministerial forum on sustainable development of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will be held in April in the city of Arkadag, the first "smart" city of Turkmenistan.
Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamurad Geldimyradov reported on the preparations for the upcoming forum at a government meeting last Friday, TDH reports.
As the Vice-Chairman noted, the upcoming event is expected to be attended by heads and representatives of government agencies of the ECO member states, international structures, diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as ministries and industry departments of Turkmenistan.
The main goal of the forum is to promote partnership in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the ECO region.
The event will consider ways to address the SDGs. It is also planned to discuss a comprehensive and sustainable strategy for identifying priority areas of interaction. Based on the results of the meeting, it is planned to adopt the Final Document.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to the development of relations with the Economic Cooperation Organization. The head of state instructed the Vice-Chairman to properly prepare for the first ministerial forum on sustainable development of the ECO and ensure a high level of its organization.
