As part of Turkmenistan's accession to the Global Methane Commitment and the Roadmap for Enhanced International Cooperation of Turkmenistan with Foreign Countries and International Organizations to Reduce Methane Emissions into the Atmospheric Air, on April 22-23, 2025, the Ashgabat Center of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held a training seminar on "Development of a Document on the Implementation of Monitoring and Assessment of Methane Emissions" at the Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern "Turkmengas".
The conference was attended by specialists from the state concerns "Turkmengas", "Turkmennebit" and the Research Institute of Natural Gas.
The conference featured an international expert from the OSCE, Nadezhda Sheveleva, who presented information on the requirements for monitoring methane emissions, the development of technical tasks, as well as on regulatory documents used in the practice of leading oil and gas companies when creating a legal framework for holding international competitions.
