A wide range of cooperation issues in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, energy, transport-communication and cultural-humanitarian spheres was discussed at a meeting between the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit. This was reported on June 1 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

As noted, during the meeting, the parties discussed in detail issues related to the construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India and other key aspects of the bilateral agenda.

The interlocutors noted the constructive nature of the multifaceted Turkmen-Pakistani relations and emphasized the current high level of interstate dialogue thanks to the political will of the leadership of the two countries, the report says.

During the meeting, the importance of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan within the framework of international structures and the significance of mechanisms of inter-parliamentary interaction were confirmed, the Foreign Ministry said.
