Turkmenistan and India have great potential for expanding cooperation

On June 6, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov took part in a collective meeting of the heads of foreign ministries of Central Asian countries with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

During the meeting, Rashid Meredov noted that in economic terms, Turkmenistan and India have great potential for expanding trade volumes, increasing investment and implementing joint projects in sectors such as transport, energy, industry, high technology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of implementing the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and giving the necessary impetus to continue work in this direction.

It was also emphasized that connecting the main transport hubs of Turkmenistan and India with the Middle East, the Caspian region and Europe will become the cornerstone of international logistics cooperation. In this regard, special attention is paid to the South-North International Transport Corridor.

During the meeting, it was noted that the key factor in bilateral relations is an open and constructive dialogue established at the highest state level.

In this regard, Meredov conveyed to the Prime Minister of India the words of greetings from the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

At the end of the meeting, Meredov noted Turkmenistan's readiness to further expand relations with India in the political and diplomatic sphere, as well as its deep interest in deepening trade and economic cooperation and intensifying humanitarian exchanges.
