Turkmenistan and African countries outline potential for developing cooperation in energy, industry and other areas

On August 6, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a series of meetings with heads of delegations from African countries on the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, TDH reports.

The talks demonstrated that the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with the states of the African continent is one of the key priorities of our country's foreign policy.

In particular, at a meeting with Vice President of the Republic of Gambia Mohammed Jallow, the parties noted the great potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, chemical industry, agriculture, healthcare and education. Particular attention was paid to humanitarian ties and Gambia's interest in cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of education.

In a conversation with Vice President of the Republic of Malawi Michael Biswick, Usi expressed confidence that his visit would be an important stage in interstate relations. Turkmenistan's readiness to use opportunities to establish contacts in energy, agriculture, healthcare, education and scientific research was noted.

The meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mali Abdoulaye Maiga revealed opportunities for implementing joint projects in such areas as the introduction of innovations in agriculture, effective water management, education and training.

During the talks with the President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, the head of Turkmenistan, noting the tourism potential of the island state, expressed readiness to provide all possible support if there are specific proposals for establishing cooperation.

At the meeting with the Prime Minister of Uganda Robina Nabbanja, interest was expressed in establishing cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic and energy spheres. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to support specific proposals from Uganda to establish cooperation in the gas-chemical and other industries. In a conversation with Prime Minister of Nepal Sharma Oli, the emphasis was placed on the enormous potential for expanding cooperation in the economy, energy, agriculture, healthcare and scientific research. Turkmenistan's readiness to support constructive initiatives to deepen cooperation was confirmed. The participants in the meetings expressed confidence that the Third UN Conference will make a significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between landlocked developing countries and to the economic development of these states.
