On the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov held a meeting with the delegation of the European Union led by the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported on its website on August 7.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields between Turkmenistan and the EU.

The importance of contacts at the highest and high levels in promoting cooperation, both in bilateral and multilateral formats, was noted.

The parties noted the significance of the first Central Asia-European Union Summit, which was held in April 2025.

The parties also discussed interaction within the framework of the EU Global Gateway strategy, including the development of energy and transport corridors, digitalization and others.

The interlocutors noted the effectiveness of the systemic work of the Joint Committee "Turkmenistan - EU", the Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue and other cooperation mechanisms. The EU delegation emphasized the high level of organization of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which is being held from 5 to 8 August in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea.
