Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister discussed current cooperation issues with the US Ambassador

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood on January 7, the Foreign Ministry reported on its website.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail current cooperation between Turkmenistan and the US in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

The parties noted the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, in particular the annual political consultations and meetings of the Turkmenistan-USA Business Council.

The interlocutors particularly emphasized the long-standing success of American companies in Turkmenistan, including John Deere, General Electric, and Boeing, and the implementation of joint business contracts in the fields of electric power, agriculture, and transportation.

The diplomats also discussed the possibility of creating new forms of cooperation in education, science, and culture. The Turkmen side announced an initiative to establish a Turkmen-American cultural dialogue.

At the meeting, views were exchanged on developing cooperation in high technology and the banking and financial sectors.
