Specialists from the Lebapnebitgazgözleg expedition have achieved another significant achievement following geological exploration and drilling work conducted at the Atabay field, located in the Ak Bugday district of the Ahal region.

This area is located in the Central Karakum gas-bearing region. The Atabay-1 appraisal well, with a target depth of 1,200 meters, was successfully drilled here, achieving excellent results. Exploration and testing work conducted in nine formations dating back to the Upper and Lower Cretaceous periods revealed that eight of them are gas-bearing.

Remarkably, geological exploration at a depth of 1,136–1,134 meters yielded a commercially significant flow of environmentally friendly, sulfur-free natural gas with a flow rate of 284,000 cubic meters per day.

To ensure that the environmentally friendly "blue fuel" produced from the first appraisal well at the Atabay field reaches consumers, the well is planned to be handed over to the relevant production department for commissioning.

This valuable labor victory, achieved in the first months of the year "Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds", has become a source of particular inspiration for oil and gas explorers. In the year of the 35th anniversary of state independence, industry specialists, inspired by new achievements, consider it their sacred duty to work selflessly to further strengthen the country's economic power.

This latest success by Turkmen geologists demonstrates the consistent implementation of state policy for the development of the oil, gas, and geological industries. The introduction of modern equipment and machinery, acquired from leading global manufacturers as part of the industry's modernization, significantly increases the efficiency of gas field development.
