Turkmenistan promotes energy dialogue in the development of regional cooperation within the framework of ECO

The Delegation of Turkmenistan takes part in the 36th meeting of the Regional Planning Council (RPS) of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The event is held in a hybrid format from 17 to 20 May under the chairmanship of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The meeting was organized under the motto "Revival of Regionalism for Sustainable ECO" and gathered heads of delegations of the Organization's member states to discuss the implementation of decisions On the 35th meeting of the RPS, as well as the approval of the work program and the calendar of events for 2026.
During his speech, the head of the Turkmen delegation voiced the key positions of Turkmenistan on the development of regional cooperation. Among the priorities are the deepening of transport and logistics integration, promotion of energy dialogue, expansion of trade and economic ties and strengthening humanitarian contacts.
The importance of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi was especially emphasized. links in transit corridors linking the regions of Asia and Europe. The Turkmen side also expressed support for the further development of the East-West and North-South corridors, the creation of multimodal infrastructure and the expansion of regional logistics capacities.
In the context of the environmental agenda, the Delegation of Turkmenistan noted the importance diversification of energy supply routes, ensuring reliable and sustainable energy security, as well as the introduction of modern energy-efficient technologies and principles of green development.
Turkmenistan expressed its support for work on the strategic goals of economic cooperation until 2035 and confirmed readiness for further active participation in the activities of ECO, a constructive contribution to the implementation of joint programs and initiatives, as well as to strengthen the role and authority of the organization in the international arena, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
