In a letter to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, announced that he had accepted the invitation to visit Turkmenistan and supported the implementation of joint projects.

"Dear Mr. President! I attach great importance to the development of the Chinese-Turkmen comprehensive strategic partnership and look forward to maintaining close working contacts with you," Xi Jinping wrote in a letter to the President of Turkmenistan, published on May 21 in the country's central media.

"I thank you for the invitation and look forward to visiting Turkmenistan at a time convenient for both sides," the Chinese leader noted.

"In your letter, you mentioned a number of major cooperation projects between China and Turkmenistan. The Chinese side consistently supports deepening the mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries in various fields, and the China-Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee can carefully study the proposals and implement them under appropriate conditions," Xi Jinping wrote.

He also noted that "the Chinese side is ready to collaborate with Turkmenistan to create new, vibrant examples of cooperation and continuously enrich the content of the China-Turkmenistan Community of Shared Destiny”.

Notably, in April, at a meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, the possibilities for implementing projects in a number of economic sectors were discussed.

Following the meeting, a substantial package of documents was signed. These included a Cooperation Program between the Governments of Turkmenistan and China until 2030, a General Agreement between the Governments of the two countries on the Basic Principles of Cooperation in the Gas Sector, and a number of interdepartmental documents.

Also in April, the State Concern Turkmengas and China's CNPC Amu Derya Petroleum Company Ltd. signed a contract for the turnkey development of Phase IV of the Galkynysh gas field, and implementation began.
