The issues of economic cooperation between Turkey, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan became the main topic of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the three countries held in Ankara on Wednesday, the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
The diplomats discussed the implementation of the agreements reached earlier, in particular, the need to intensify cooperation on the transport and transit project "Lapis-Lazuli" (Lapis-Lazuli), which includes Afghanistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The parties confirmed the existence of a huge potential for multilateral dialogue in the fuel and energy, trade and economic, transport and logistics fields, as well as in the field of high technologies.
Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov called this meeting" historic " and emphasized that this mechanism comprehensively contributes to building up the positive dynamics of the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
In turn, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that this trilateral format of partnership between the three countries makes a significant contribution to the stability of the entire region.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the importance and timeliness of the signing of the agreement between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration and development of the Dostluk hydrocarbon field in the Caspian Sea, which opens up broad horizons in the light of increasing mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of energy at the regional level.
