International Day of Neutrality celebrated in Turkmenistan

 Last Sunday, Turkmenistan celebrated w the International Day of Neutrality and the 26th anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the Resolution on the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.

 Due to the fact that the holiday fell on Sunday, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree to postpone the day off from December 12 to Monday – December 13.

 On the eve of this holiday, the International Forum of Peace and Trust with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was held in Ashgabat.  The conference was also attended by heads of international and regional organizations, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country, as well as ambassadors of Turkmenistan abroad.

 On Sunday, delegates of the forum and guests of honor of the Turkmen capital laid flowers at the Monument of Neutrality.  The ceremony was opened by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov – the ceremonial wreath from the head of the state was the first to decorate the foot of the monument.

 The head of the state also gave an official reception in honor of the holiday.  At the solemn event, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a speech and read his new poem «Long live a peaceful life!»  It sounded an appeal to humanity to stop wars and establish peace and trust on earth, as the basis for the well-being and happiness of people.  All «peoples are one tribe», the leader of Turkmenistan calls for such an understanding of the world.

 During the event, songs in different languages ​​were performed by Turkmen pop stars.  Songs written by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov were also performed.

 Famous artists of our country and representatives of the diplomatic community made festive congratulations on the occasion of the International Day of Neutrality.
