Representatives of Turkmenistan and Iran discussed issues of expanding economic cooperation

 On the sidelines of the May 23 session in Tehran on reforms and prospects for cooperation in the Economic Cooperation Organization region, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Khadzhiev met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Mehdi Safari.  This is reported by the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

 During the talks, the parties discussed issues of expanding economic cooperation, primarily in the fields of energy, transport and transit.

 V. Khadzhiev noted that the Turkmen side is in favor of increasing the volume of mutual trade and economic ties between the two countries in the context of regional integration.

 M.Safari also mentioned Iran's readiness to increase cooperation in the field of cargo transportation along the North-South corridor, the importance of which is growing, and to intensify cooperation in the field of oil, gas and electricity, as well as their transit and swap supplies.
